When the musicians of Song From the North Country decided to partner with Duluth Dylan Fest to host a songwriting contest we had no idea what kind of song might come from that. From a field of national and international songwriters the judges chose this ballad of a young professional bull rider who lost his life in 2019 riding a bull named Hard Times. The winning song, “Mason Lowe,” is from our own Shane Nelson of Superior, Wisconsin.
